This HSG accessory enables you to quickly determine the strength of sealing seams immediately after heat sealing. This user-friendly accessory can be quickly attached together with special sealing jaws. To optimise the speed of the process, you may wish to produce exact samples with our Strip Cutter (STR).

Immediately after sealing the two sealed samples are dropped on a wedge by means of a floating weight (50 to 425 g) to split the hot seal seam. The length of the split seam depends on the Hot Tack properties of the material.

 After completion of the Hot Tack test you simply need to measure the length of the remaining (non-split) sealing seam and document the result. An optional Microsoft® Access based Software enables you to document your test results with a click of the mouse. The whole procedure – from testing to documentation – is only a matter of a few minutes.

This test enables you to determine the exact Hot Tack properties of various materials with a minimum of effort. This accessory is indispensable for efficient QA procedures during production as well as for the determination of the appropriate sealing parameters during development.

The Gelnorm®– Geltimer PTC-3 evaluates all factors which influence the gel time of reaction resins such as type and quantity of hardener, accelerator, inhibitor, filler, pigments, as well as temperature and moisture. The instrument is extremely easy to operate and normally needs no maintenance.

The principle of measurement of Gelnorm®– Geltimer is simple: A stamper made of aluminium or stainless steel performs an up-down cycle in a test tube filled with resin. When the point of gelation is reached, the test tube is pulled up by the stamper. This stops the clock which was started at the beginning of the experiment and the gel time can be read of.

With the probe temperature system the exothermic reaction can be measured. With the optional temperature controller PTT-3 and electric heating Block GT the sample mixture can be heated up and controlled.

The GDP-C is designed for testing the permeability of dry gases on films and similar materials according to the manometric principle. The sample is put between the top and bottom part of the permeation cell. The volume of the bottom part is as small as possible and known. Prior to each test the bottom part of the permeation cell is evacuated. During testing the top part is filled with the test gas. The gas permeating the material causes a pressure increases at the bottom part of the permeation cell. You can detect the gas permeability by evaluating this increase in pressure in relation to time and the device-specific volume. The increase in pressure during the test period is evaluated and displayed by an external computer. The PC is connected to the GDP-C with a serial interface. You can adjust the sample temperature within the range of -20 °C and 80 °C using an external thermostat.

The Geltimer GT-SP is intended for the measurement of Gelation time of reaction resins.

Features:
The instrument incorporates a switch-off mechanism that responds to pressure: the gelation time limit is reached when the measuring stamper meets a defined reaction force in the reaction resin. As a result of this automatic switch-off system, the size of resin sample employed is not limited. The dis-posable stamper of stainless steel wire carries out a defined reciprocating movement as soon as the instrument is set in operation and, when the change in viscosity is reached, a built in timer is stopped and the gelation time can be read off.

The various methods allow for the determination of the necessary TECHNICAL DATASHEET energy to break a specimen – having a known cross-section - then calculating its resilience value at a given conditions. The potential energy of the hammer is known and it varies depending on the hammer’s shape, weight and release angle. The absorbed energy to break the specimen can be determined after measuring the ascent angle of the hammer after the impact. The test methods to perform with this structure are Charpy, Izod and Tensile Impact. Differences among these test methods are related to the way the specimen is mounted and how it is impacted.

Charpy method: The specimen, rectangular shaped, is positioned horizontally and is broken with one oscillation of the hammer only; the impact line is centred between the two specimen supports.

Izod method: Specimen, rectangular shaped, is blocked at one end in vertical position and it is broken with one oscillation of the hammer only; the impact line is at a fixed distance from the blocking point of the specimen. Tensile impact method: Specimen is inserted in two blocking brackets and it is broken with only one oscillation of the hammer which stresses the specimen, dumb-bell shaped, along its longitudinal axis.
